The PALCS IT Department uses the GoToAssist remote assistance tool from GoTo to provide remote assistance to our students and staff. This tool allows our technicians to remotely control the computer and do whatever tasks need to be accomplished on the device. We usually only use this tool while also in communication through other tools (Phone or Zoom meeting) and requires it to be initiated locally on the computer.

To initiate a GoToAssist session, all you will need to do is locate the "Yellow bell icon" on the desktop and double click it.

Once it loads it will prompt for a session code which the technician assisting you will provide.

Once the code is entered, click on "Start Support Session" and it will automatically link your computer to the technician. This flexible tool will allow the technician to do whatever is required on the device.

Please note, as of 2024-2025 school year GoToAssist is the only program that we use to remote into the student devices. If someone else is claiming to be technical support (especially from something more generic like "Microsoft Support" or "Google Support"), be mindful that this may not be a legitimate technical support. Always be mindful of who you allow remote access to your computer. If you are ever in doubt if someone reaches out offering support, please let us know and we can help verify whether or not it is legitimate.
