Downloading apps onto PALCS iPads via the Self Service App

  • Updated

For safety and security concerns we have the Apple App Store and iTunes disabled on PALCS iPads. Instead we distribute apps through the Self Service App. It functions very similarly to the App store. All you need to do is click on the Self Service App on the iPad home screen.

This will open the Self Service "store" where you can download the pre-approved applications that are available. All you need to do is press the "Install" button underneath an app and it will automatically install the application (as long as a valid Apple ID has been logged into).

It may take a few minutes to install, but once it finishes the app will stop loading on the home screen and be available for use.

If you are not currently signed into a valid Apple ID it will give you an error message like this:

All you will need to do is go to Settings and click on the "Sign into my iPad" button at the top left.

If the Self Service icon is not available on the home screen you may have this similar icon instead which is the web version of the Self Service application.

It has much the same functionality of the main Self Service App but more accessible.
