For the students enrolled in our "Microsoft Office" course, we make the Microsoft Office Suite available. (We only make this software available to students enrolled in the course, if you are not enrolled in the course you will not be able to access this resource.) This method will only be available on your PALCS device.
Older Windows 10 / Software Catalog Install
To download the Microsoft Office programs to your PALCS computer, you will need to find the "Microsoft Office 2021" icon in the Software Catalog (Software Distribution via The Software Catalog). It can be found inside of the "PALCS" folder. Either double click on the icon or right click on it and press "Open."

Once the icon is clicked on, it may take some time before anything appears to be happening. (Depending upon your internet speed it may take 20-30 minutes.) Eventually several windows will pop up including an "Installing Office" window.
Once it completes, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote should be added to your computer. It should present you with a screen like this, just click "Close."
You can find the newly installed apps as icons on your desktop or inside of the Start menu.
The first time that you open one of these programs a screen like this will show up. Click "Close" and you should have access to the program.
After that you should be able to open and use the Microsoft Suite of apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote).
Windows 11 - Company Portal Instructions
To download the Microsoft Office programs to your PALCS computer, you will need to find the Company portal (Software Distribution via the Company Portal). It can be found in the start menu.
Locate the app "Microsoft Office 2021 LTSC" and then click on the Install button.
It will then install the program automatically to your computer. (Depending upon your internet speed it may take 20-30 minutes.)
Eventually Extra icons will show up as the Office Suite is installed.
And then finally the app will be "Installed."
The first time you open one of the programs, a confirmation screen may appear. Click on "Accept."
Then it will may ask you to Activate. Press "Next" after making sure "I want to activate over the internet" is selected.
It will then be activated and you can use the Office Suite on your machine.
You can use any of the apps that have been installed on your computer.
Issues and Troubleshooting
If there is not enough room on the computer to install Office, you may get an error screen.
You will need to clear up room on your "C" drive to complete the installation. (Cleaning up Computer Storage) The first thing to do is to check if there are any pending updates. If there are any pending updates, apply them and restart the computer.
