While we recommend using the PALCS provided computers, it IS possible to sign into a Chromebook with your PALCS Google account. (Only Students are provided a Google account, PALCS Parent accounts will not work.)
Primary User
If you are signing into a Chromebook that isn't signed into any account, at the "Who's using the this Chromebook?" screen, select "You - Set up this device for work or personal use" and click "Next."
Then click "Next >" again.
It will prompt you to enter your email. Input your FULL email address (if you do not include the @stu.palcsmail.org it will not work).
When you press Next it will ask you to enter your password. (Note, this will not send you to the PALCS Lobby to sign in.)
You will need to use your "online programs password" also known as your "3rd party password" for this. That password can be found in the PALCS Lobby in the Student Snapshot section.
Once you enter that, it should ask you to accept terms and conditions and set other stuff up. (Be careful if you chose to use a pin as we will not be able to assist in resetting that device pin.) Once you complete that, you will be logged into the Chromebook as the primary user.
Alternative / Secondary User
If you are trying to add your PALCS Google account to a Chromebook that already has a primary user, open up the Settings and select "Accounts" on the options to the left.
Then click on the "Currently Signed in as Test" button.
Then click on "Add Google Account."
Click "Ok."
Then enter in your FULL student email address. (If you do not include the @stu.palcsmail.org it will not work).
For this login method, it will send you to the PALCS lobby to sign in.
Once you login, you should be signed in as a "secondary user." When you try to access Google Workspace things (Google Drive/Docs) it will send you first to whatever account is the "Primary" account. But you can switch to your PALCS account by clicking the button at the top right of the screen and clicking on your @stu.palcsmail.org account.
Then it will open a new tab logged into your Student account instead of the "Primary" account.
